Breaking into TV
Ed Sullivan
At the end of the 1950s, Eddie Fisher, Al Martino and Guy Marks were all winners on the popular Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts Show.
Then in 1960, Guy Marks made two appearances on The Ed Sullivan show in New York. The first show aired live on May 29, 1960 (Season 12, #35). Marks was billed as a performer at the Copacabana nightclub in New York. Also appearing on Sullivan that night were Count Basie and his orchestra, Dennis Day and Chita Rivera.
One month later Sullivan had Marks back on the show which aired June 19, 1960. Marks performs a comic monologue in which he takes the audience on a ride to the Metropolitan Opera House. Also appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show that Sunday night were: Benny Goodman, Jane Morgan, Della Reese singing "Every Day", Don Adams, Ann Miller and Sandra Dee.

Today's Best Laugh: A H'wood actor was divorced for the fourth time, and comic Guy Marks said, "I'm not surprised- he never could hold an audience." ----
At the end of 1960 Marks made his third appearance on the Sullivan show on December 11, 1960 (Season 13, #10). Along with Marks, Teresa Brewer, Billy Eckstine and Myron Cohen appeared.

Marks returned to The Ed Sullivan Show on May 28, 1961 (Season 13, #33). Sullivan's guests: Jackie Wilson, Xavier Cugat, Roberta Peters, Don Adams, Sophia Loren, and in the audience Mrs. Lou Gehrig. Marks performed his Opera sketch!
